The Ninth District covers the state of Alabama, and is comprised of five (5) annual conferences: the Alabama River Region, the Southeast Alabama, the Northeast Alabama, the Southwest Alabama, and the Northwest Alabama.

Pastor Sterling has been a pastor in the African Methodist Episcopal church for nineteen years. His first thirteen years were served at his first pastoral charge, which began in November 1997 at Saint Stephen AME Church (Airport) in Birmingham, Alabama. He served as the pastor of Saint Paul AME Church (Smithfield) for seven years. Currently, he serves as the pastor of Saint John AME Church in Birmingham, Alabama. | full bio
